Fancy Frocks for Mummies, Moms and Mamas (May 2014)

For Mother’s Day this year all of my Art Club children, aged 3 to 8, made paper collage portraits of their mummies, moms and mamas.

I provided a selection of pretty decorative papers and triangular cardboard templates, so that the children could cut out a basic dress shape.

Washi tapes and paper strips were cut and glued on to create sleeves, trousers and tights, and paper doilies provided lacy decoration.

After sticking the dresses onto the background, the children used pastels to draw their mum’s face, hair, hands and legs. A few buttons were added for a finishing touch!

A lovely, simple and fun project.
